We are a non-profit association of individuals and groups with a common interest in protecting and preserving the environment of the Spirit Lake watershed. The annual meeting was well attended and informative, It also ended on time! Minutes are available by clicking the "Latest News" tab above.
Water quality and quantity are both better than last year.
There are plans for a dock and debris cleanup next spring. We wil be removing abandoned docks and dock logs which clutter the shore and can become navigational hazards in high water. If your dock is old and looks abandoned, it may be removed if it doesn't have dock numbers as required by law or a sign or other indication showing ownership and that it is still in use. Plans and details are still tentative, so keep checking back for details.
Air Pipe did not attend. They are a microwave high speed internet provider and had shown an interest in serving the North shore beyond the range of the DSL phone link. They may still be interested if enough people contact them. Their web sit is www.AIR-PIPE.COM. TOLL FREE number is 866 969 8351.

Lake level is now essentialy identical to 2008, our best year since leak problem began.
Many events coming up . Blues Fest downtown on Aug. 28. Wine tasting in the little park on Sept.2. Bike ride from top of Mt. Spokane (Breakfast in the park and bus to top of mountain included) on Sat., Sept 4. Also even though not in Spirit Lake, be aware that Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp perform Sept. 1 at the Post Falls Event center (the old greyhound park).
Come out and enjoy the end of summer events.
